Collins & Aikman Corporation (NYSE: CKC) today announced that it has received
Kia Motors America, Inc.'s "Most Valued Partner" Award. The award was
presented to Steve Shemer, Collins & Aikman's Director of Product
Marketing/Management for Accessory Mats, on Thursday at Kia's 2002 annual
Valued Partner Award Ceremony in Las Vegas, NV. This is the fourth
consecutive year Collins & Aikman has received a Valued Partner Award.
Commenting on the award, Jerry Mosingo, President and Chief Executive
Officer noted, "Collins & Aikman is extremely proud to be recognized as a
partner in the recent success of Kia's growing product line. This award in
particular reflects the results of our commitment to excellence and ability to

Collins & Aikman was one of only five suppliers reaching this year's
highest award level of "Most Valued Partner." The award program recognizes
suppliers for excellence in the following six evaluation categories which are
reviewed quarterly: Product Quality, Communication, Product & Prototype
Delivery Timing, Packaging/Documentation Quality, Warranty Administration and
Marketing Support with additional bonus points given to suppliers that "go the
extra mile" to deliver superior service. The award is a result of exceptional
performance ratings for the accessory floor mat, cargo mat, and trunk mat
products produced at Collins & Aikman's Holmesville Ohio, manufacturing
facility. Collins & Aikman currently supplies accessory mat products for
Kia's Sedona, Spectra and Sportage models.
