announced it has been named one of the Top 5 Companies for Black Professionals
in South Florida by Network Miami, the magazine affiliated with the Miami-Dade
Chamber of Commerce.
Network Miami surveyed 100 South Florida companies and selected five
companies that have proven that diversity management is an integral part of
their business success. In order to be recognized, the companies were
required to demonstrate significant representation of blacks in four key
areas: total workforce, corporate procurement, corporate boards and senior
management.
According to the report, Ryder was recognized for its proven commitment to
diversity management and its corporate philosophy on diversity that is based
on respect for one another and recognition that each person brings his or her
own attributes to the company. Ryder was also recognized for having black
employees in management positions throughout the organization and having a
black director on its corporate board. Ryder is a supporter of the National
Urban League, National Black MBA Association and the Miami-Dade Chamber of
Commerce, among others. In 1989, the Company organized the Ryder Black
Employee Network (RBEN) to promote the attainment of Ryder's overall business
