American Axle & Manufacturing Announces Extension of Employment Agreement with CEO

    DETROIT, Nov. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- American Axle & Manufacturing
Holdings, Inc. (AAM), which is traded as AXL on the NYSE, today announced that
AAM's Co-Founder, Chairman & CEO, Richard E. Dauch has extended his Employment
Agreement to serve as CEO of the Company until December 31, 2009.  Mr. Dauch
will also continue to serve on AAM's Board of Directors as Chairman.
    "The Board of Directors is pleased that Dick will continue to lead AAM
through 2009," said AAM's Compensation Committee Chairman Forest J. Farmer.
