GLEN COVE, N.Y., Nov. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- SCO Family of Services will
honor Vincent and Vicki DeLaurentis at its annual fundraising gala, The
Shepherd's Ball, on Friday, November 17. Each year, the Shepherd's Award
recognizes individuals and community leaders most committed to serving
those in need.
Vincent is President and Chief Operating Officer for Getty Petroleum
Marketing Inc. Vicki is the President of the Citizens Faculty Association
and a member of the Cultural Arts Committee for the Cold Spring Harbor
School District. The DeLaurentises volunteer and advocate for numerous
community efforts and have been involved with SCO's Madonna Heights
division for many years.
"We were drawn to Madonna Heights because of its focus on women and
girls," Vicki says. "As the parents of two teenaged girls, their mission of
serving women and girls in crisis really resonated with us."
A member group of the SCO Family of Services, Madonna Heights Services
is well known throughout Eastern Long Island. Among its 17 programs is the
Madonna Heights School, based in Dix Hills, which provides a fully
accredited education to 70 girls, grades 7-12, who face behavioral and
emotional challenges; Morning Star, an acclaimed residential program for
women recovering from substance abuse; and homeless shelters for women and
their children that integrate a continuum of services including counseling
and assistance with job training, employment and permanent housing.
"What has impressed us most about the entire SCO Family of Services
organization is the careful approach it takes to helping people in need,"
Vincent says. "Every SCO staff member we have ever met is extraordinarily
dedicated, knowledgeable and passionate about the work they do."
The theme for the 2006 Shepherd's Ball is "Celebrating the Families Who
Help Us Grow." The evening will highlight some of the hundreds of families
who have been and continue to be instrumental in SCO's enormous growth over
the past few decades.
"We are fortunate that our organization has become a tradition for many
families," said Robert J. McMahon, Executive Director of SCO Family of
Services. "Many of our current board members and key volunteers and donors
are second -- and even third-generation supporters of SCO. We're thrilled
that the DeLaurentises have embraced this tradition -- and it's especially
meaningful because they involve their daughters in our events and volunteer
activities."
David J. Koehler, Vice President of Koehler Masonry Corp., and Stephen
Tyree, Chief Executive Officer of The Tyree Company, are Co-Chairs of the
20th Anniversary Shepherd's Ball. All proceeds will benefit SCO Family of
Services' continuum of programs. The Ball will be held at Crest Hollow
Country Club in Woodbury, N.Y.
