Blooming Holiday Floral Ideas at Jewel-Osco

              Arrangement Ideas Include Easy Accent Centerpieces
                        and Winter Wonderland Bouquets

    MELROSE PARK, Ill., Nov. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Blooming with festive floral
ideas for the holidays, Chicagoland's leading food and drug combination
retailer is helping floral enthusiasts create and care for seasonal bouquet
arrangements.
    Focusing on designing, decorating, and caring for holiday flower
arrangements, Jewel-Osco floral departments at 47 Chicagoland and
Milwaukee-area locations will present the free demonstrations Thursday,
Nov. 12, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
    More than 1,000 people attended Jewel-Osco's summer floral design
demonstrations.  Customers who wish to attend the sessions can register by
calling 708-531-6539, or sign-up at the store.  Presented with the assistance
of a full-time floral designer, topics for the demonstrations range from
creating garland centerpieces to extending the life of holiday plants, such as
poinsettias.  Those attending one of the design sessions will receive a free
vase and valuable floral coupons.
    The Holiday Season is quickly approaching, and Jewel-Osco floral
departments are ready to help make the season brighter by offering customers
more than 32 botanical delights including, Colombian Carnations, California
Lisianthus, and hybrid lilies bursting with color.
    "Not only do our holiday floral experts share their design expertise with
our customers, they also answer questions on a variety of floral topics," said
Mike Spinozzi, vice-president of Jewel-Osco fresh food merchandising.
"Demonstrations with a holiday theme are always fun and people will enjoy
learning new techniques for working with fresh seasonal flowers."
    Jewel-Osco offers customers the ability to mix-and-match floral
arrangements as part of the "Three Bouquets For $10 Program."  Since its debut
in September 1997, it has grown to be one of the most popular programs with
Jewel-Osco customers.
