Agreement Allows 24/7 Access to Emergency Room Physicians
TEMPE, Ariz., Nov. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- JMC Airlines is ensuring that its
passengers and crew are able to properly respond to an inflight medical
situation by providing them with immediate access to board-certified emergency
physicians. To do so, the airline has begun using the MedLink services of
MedAire, Inc., a company that specializes in providing real-time medical
assistance to travelers in remote environments around the world.
Under the three-year agreement, MedAire will provide JMC's fleet of
28 aircraft with 24-hour access to emergency physicians and communication
specialists working at its MedLink Global Response Center. The hospital-based
center can be contacted from anywhere around the world using the aircraft's
existing communications system.
"By making MedLink available, JMC is providing its passengers and crew an
additional level of expertise and confidence as they work to manage the
situation," said Aaron Hawkins, managing director of MedAire's European
offices. "This agreement illustrates JMC's continued commitment to ensuring
comfortable and safe passenger travel."
MedLink physicians, who have extensive experience in the field of
aviation-specific medicine, managed more than 12,000 medical emergencies in
2001 and are on pace to exceed that number in 2002. With the addition of JMC
airlines, MedAire now serves 42 airline clients worldwide.
