CARLSBAD, Calif., Nov. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Callaway Golf (NYSE: ELY)
recorded its 42nd golf ball victory across the world's six major professional
tours this year as Padraig Harrington used a Rule 35(R) Firmfeel(TM) ball to
win the Volvo Masters yesterday. Harrington earned a one-stroke triumph at
the PGA European Tour's season-ending event, vaulting him to second on the
final Volvo Order of Merit list.
Callaway Golf is second among all golf ball manufacturers in victories on
the world's six major professional tours combined this year. Callaway Golf's
42 wins across the PGA, Senior PGA, LPGA, Buy.com, PGA European and Japan Golf
tours is more than double the number of victories of its two nearest
competitors, Bridgestone and Nike, with 20 wins each.
This is the fourth consecutive week that the new Odyssey(R) White Hot(R)
"2-Ball" Putter has been used to win a professional tour event. There were
six "2-Ball" Putters in play at the Volvo Masters. Callaway Golf Staff
Professional Annika Sorenstam won the previous two weeks using the putter,
while Callaway Golf Staff Professional Paul Lawrie was victorious with the
putter one month ago at the Dunhill Links Championship.
Harrington has had an excellent 2001 season using Callaway Golf(R) balls,
leading the PGA European Tour in scoring average at 69.23 strokes per round
and in putts per greens hit in regulation at 1.723. He also tied for the lead
in greens hit in regulation at 77.1 percent. Callaway Golf Staff Professional
Seve Ballesteros also finished atop a European statistical category, leading
the tour in putts per round with an average of 27.9 using his Odyssey
TriHot(TM) Putter.
Callaway Golf Staff Professionals Colin Montgomerie and Tony Johnstone
finished tied for seventh at the Volvo Masters using the Company's new CTU

In Japan, the winner of the Dunlop Phoenix tournament used a Steelhead
Plus 4-wood in his playoff victory. Callaway Golf Staff Professional Dean
Wilson finished tied for fifth just one week after winning the Ube Kosan Open
for his third Japan Golf Tour win of the season. Wilson used 12 Callaway Golf
clubs at the Dunlop Phoenix, including an ERC II Forged Titanium Driver, Big
Bertha Steelhead Strong 4-wood and 5-wood, Steelhead X-14 Pro Series Irons and
an Odyssey White Hot 5 Putter. Wilson also used the CTU 30 Red ball. He
stands in second place on the Japan Golf Tour order of merit.
