Raytheon Awarded $74 Million Option on U.S. Army Live Training Contract

    RESTON, Va., Nov. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) has been
awarded a one-year, $74 million option on its Live Training Program with the
U.S. Army Program Executive Office - Simulation, Training, and Instrumentation
(PEO-STRI). The contract option allows the company to continue providing life
cycle contractor support for tactical engagement, instrumentation and range
training devices and systems for the Live Training Program. The award is the
fourth of seven one-year options under an eight-year contract. The contract
was awarded in 1999 for an overall value of $414 million.
    Raytheon will continue providing operations and maintenance; logistics and
engineering; and software support of instrumentation, scoring systems,
Tactical Engagement Simulation (TES) and other equipment, as well as training
analysis and feedback, scenario development operations, operation reviews and
battlefield effects. Work will be performed at the National Training Center at
Ft Irwin, Calif.; the Combat Maneuver Training Center at Hohenfels, Germany;
the Joint Readiness Training Center at Ft. Polk, La.; two Area Weapon Scoring
System sites-Fort Hood, Texas and Grafenwoehr, Germany; 12 TES repair sites;
and five additional sites in the United States that support TES training.

    As part of a joint venture with EG&G Technical Services known as JT3 LLC,
Raytheon also provides instrumented test and technical training support to the
U.S. Air Force under the Joint Range Technical Services contract, which has a
potential value of $1.7 billion over 15 years. This effort includes the
management, operations and maintenance, and engineering and technical services
of the Nevada Test and Training Range, Nellis Air Force Base, Nev.; the Air
Force Flight Test Center, Edwards Air Force Base, Calif.; the Utah Test and
Training Range, Utah; and the U.S. Navy Electronic Combat Range at Naval
Weapons Center-China Lake, Calif.
