Siemens USA Announces Leadership Transition

Klaus Kleinfeld Assumes New Post as Chief of Siemens Worldwide Communications
                                  Businesses

    NEW YORK, Nov. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Siemens today announced that
Klaus Kleinfeld, the president and chief executive officer (CEO) of its U.S.
operations will leave the U.S. to oversee the company's worldwide Information
and Communications businesses.

    The transition is effective January 1, 2004.  A successor is expected to
be announced later this month.  The headquarters for Siemens USA are in New
York City.
    Kleinfeld, age 46, has served as president and CEO of Siemens USA since
January 2002.  He previously served as the Chief Operating Officer for Siemens
USA.
    In his new role, Kleinfeld will serve as a member of the Corporate
Executive Committee for Siemens AG, assuming special regional responsibilities
for Russia and the other former Soviet Republics, Africa, and the Middle East.
He also will supervise the company's corporate strategic planning function.
He will be based at the world headquarters of Siemens AG in Munich, Germany.
   As president and CEO of Siemens USA, Kleinfeld has been responsible for
Siemens' US business activities, representing roughly 25 percent of Siemens
AG's global revenues.  In that post, he was a prime driver in the launch and
execution of the company's successful "top+ US Business Initiative," through
which the company achieved record profitability in the U.S.  Kleinfeld also
spearheaded programs to unify the company's individual business units into a
cohesive portfolio of businesses under the Siemens USA brand.

    Prior to coming to Siemens USA, Kleinfeld was executive vice president and
a member of the executive board of the Siemens Medical Engineering Group.
    Kleinfeld is a member of the Board of Directors of the Centers for Disease
Control Foundation, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Metropolitan Opera.
He is also a member of The Business Roundtable and serves on the boards of the
American Institute for Contemporary German Studies, The Turner Corporation and
the Partnership for New York City.  He is also co-chair of the Mayoral
Advisory Task Force on Stimulating Growth and Diversification in the New York
City Economy, and is a member of the NYC2012 Board -- the organization seeking
to bring the 2012 Olympic Games to New York City.
    Kleinfeld earned a Master's degree in Business Administration/Economics
from the University of Goettingen (Germany) in 1982.  He received a Ph.D. in
Strategic Management from the University of Wuerzburg (Germany).
