National Survey Also Reveals Daters Give Great Significance to Sharing the
Holiday With Someone Special
DALLAS, Nov. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Exploring which celebrities single
Americans would most like to bring home to their families this Thanksgiving,
TRUE(TM), a leading online relationship service today announced that actors
Brad Pitt and Cameron Diaz are this year's top choices for a Turkey Day date.
According to a recent nationwide survey conducted by the popular Web site,
True.com(TM), more than 38 percent of female respondents said that Brad Pitt
is their first choice, followed by fellow film heartthrobs Hugh Grant
(23 percent), Jude Law (21 percent) and Taye Diggs (15 percent). For single
men, well-known actress Cameron Diaz captured the No. 1 spot at 45 percent,
with Renee Zellweger coming in at a close second (40 percent). Jennifer Lopez
was also a popular choice, with 15 percent of male respondents choosing the
famous singer and actress as their dream date.
But rather than settling for dream dates, the survey also found that
singles take Thanksgiving as an opportunity for a romantic rendezvous. More
than 79 percent of singles feel that a few months of dating a person is all
that is needed before bringing them home to meet the family. Twelve percent
of respondents even said that knowing someone for only a day is sufficient
time, so long as they have someone with whom to share the holiday.
"We know from past research that holidays like Thanksgiving Day are
important markers for singles in their quest for partners," said James Houran,
Ph.D., TRUE's Chief Psychologist. "In fact, even though singles fantasize
about bringing home that 'perfect celebrity date,' the truth is that they use
holidays like this as an opportunity to explore just how good of a fit
prospective partners are for them and their families."
Besides meeting the family, many singles approach Thanksgiving Day as a
meaningful time to bond and discover their level of compatibility with a
prospective partner. For instance, TRUE's survey revealed that 34 percent of
respondents feel that reflecting and giving thanks with their families is
their favorite part of the Thanksgiving holiday to share with that special
someone, followed by cooking the actual meal and watching football games.
Only 7 percent chose shopping the day after Thanksgiving as their favorite
part of the holiday.
