Cox Interactive Launches Ad Campaign For CIMnet

Also Announces New WebTraffic Verification System

ATLANTA, Nov. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Today Cox Interactive Media (CIM)
launches a print campaign in select national advertising trade magazines to
generate awareness of CIMnet(C), its unique network of city and specialty Web
sites. CIMnet(C) delivers to advertisers the audience they want to reach in
key markets across the country. Since its beginning about a year ago, CIM has
quickly surpassed every traditional media company and online provider to
become the nation's largest provider of local content on the Internet.
The ad campaign focuses on the 14 city and six specialty CIMnet(C) sites
which have been launched and are accepting advertising. By Dec. 31, 1997,
advertisers will have more than 30 CIMnet(C) sites to include in their media
buying plans. Current CIMnet(C) advertisers include Kroger, BellSouth,
JCPenney and a host of local advertisers across the country.
The ads feature people in everyday situations and showcase how CIMnet(C)
helps advertisers reach targeted online audiences in many major markets across
the country. In addition, the ads introduce CIM's new tracking tool that
"gives our advertisers the accountability they've come to expect from
traditional media."
The campaign runs through November and was created by Bigelow and Eigel,
Inc. advertising agency in Atlanta, Ga. and the advertising buy was made by K2
Design, Inc. in New York. The total amount of the ad buy has not been
released.
CIMnet(C) is unique on the Web. Unlike city guides, CIMnet(C) city sites
are tailored specifically around the personality and interests of each
geographic area. Peter Winter, CIM's president, emphasizes the important
distinction between city sites and city guides for advertisers.
"We are building comprehensive media sites that inform, entertain and
stimulate online conversation. Online directories such as restaurants are
just one spoke on our product wheel. On their own, directories cannot drive
the high-frequency visits we need to create a viable media business," he said.
"An online directory or guide will be used sporadically, while a city site
that weaves itself into the fabric of the community will develop a large
number of repeat users."
The advertising campaign features city and specialty sites launched in
1997. Following is a list of CIM's web products:
