LOS ANGELES, Nov. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- In support of the relief efforts for
south Los Angeles residents affected by the flooding caused by Wednesday,
November 12's torrential thunderstorm, supermarket partners Ralphs and Food 4
Less will deliver a truckload of food and other critical supplies to aid in
disaster assistance. The truck is scheduled to arrive at the Florence-
Firestone Service Center, 7807 S. Compton Avenue in Los Angeles, this evening.
The supermarket chains' donation -- valued at $30,000 -- is in support of
a relief effort organized by Los Angeles County Supervisor Yvonne Brathwaite
Burke.
"Thousands of our customers, associates and their families have been
affected by this devastating storm," said Dave Hirz, President of Food 4 Less.
"Food 4 Less and Ralphs are committed to supporting the communities we serve
and we are proud to join with Supervisor Burke in this relief effort."
Ralphs and Food 4 Less currently operate 480 conventional and price-impact
supermarkets in California, southern Nevada, Illinois and Indiana. The
company is a division of The Kroger Co., (NYSE: KR), one of the nation's
largest food retailers, based in Cincinnati, Ohio.
