IRVING, Texas, Nov. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Commercial Metals Company
(NYSE: CMC), headquartered in Irving, Texas, announced today the acquisition
of substantially all operating assets of Norfolk, Virginia, reinforcing steel
fabricator Hall-Hodges Company. The Norfolk facility, which began operations
in 1925, will join the CMC Steel Group and operate as part of CMC's Rebar East
Group of facilities that fabricate reinforcing steel and supply construction
products to contractors throughout the Eastern United States.
Jeff Selig, CMC Steel Group Executive Vice President and East Rebar
Regional Manager, said, "The acquisition will strengthen CMC's presence in the
eastern Virginia area and improve our opportunity to grow in the region. We
will retain Hall-Hodges' skilled work force and management team to meet our
goal of providing the best product and service to our customers."
Commercial Metals Company and subsidiaries manufacture, recycle and market
steel and metal products, related materials and services through a network
including steel minimills, steel fabrication and processing plants,
construction-related product warehouses, a copper tube mill, metal recycling
facilities and marketing and distribution offices in the United States and in
strategic overseas markets.
