BOSTON, Nov. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Sovereign Bank today
announced Robert W. Galea has been named Executive Vice President and Chief
Marketing Officer. Galea will oversee the company's corporate marketing
organization, including the development and execution of integrated
marketing strategies across all business units in the commercial and
consumer segments. In this role he will direct all strategic analysis,
product management and market communications activities.
Galea brings 25 years experience in marketing and sales for financial
institutions to his new role. Prior to joining Sovereign, he served as EVP
and Chief Marketing Officer for Wachovia Dealer Services and predecessor
company Westcorp. Previously he held a number of executive marketing
management roles, including Director of Marketing for Chittenden Bank,
Director of Marketing for Imperial Bank, now Comerica, and Director of
National Sales, Marketing and Product Management for Home Savings of
America.
A graduate of Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Galea
holds a bachelor's of business administration degree in marketing. He will
reside in Massachusetts with his family.
