Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust Selected as a Co-Developer for South Philadelphia Sports Complex Project

PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment
Trust (NYSE: PEI) announced today that it has been selected to co-develop,
with Comcast-Spectacor, ancillary retail and recreational structures in
association with an expanded South Philadelphia sports complex. As announced
at a press conference earlier this week by Philadelphia Mayor John Street, the
South Philadelphia sports complex, which currently includes the city's
professional basketball and hockey arenas, will be expanded to include new
baseball and football stadiums. The football stadium is slated to open in
August 2003 and the baseball stadium in the spring of 2004. The scope of
Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust's involvement in the development
work as well as its ownership interest and financial obligations have yet to
be determined.
Ron Rubin, Chief Executive Officer of PREIT, commented, "While the extent
of the project is still preliminary, we are very excited to have the
opportunity to work with Comcast-Spectacor in the development of an expanded
sports, entertainment and retail venue in South Philadelphia. Importantly,
when considering the distinctiveness of having four professional sports
franchises at one site, this complex offers a highly strategic location for
retailers and the potential to attract a high caliber roster of nationally and
regionally recognized tenants. We will look forward to updating you as our
plans begin to gel."
