Raytheon Aircraft Names Bob Horowitz Chief Operating Officer

    LEXINGTON, Mass., Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN)
announced today that Robert L. Horowitz has been named chief operating officer
of Raytheon Aircraft Company, reporting to Raytheon Aircraft Chairman and
Chief Executive Officer Jim Schuster.
    Horowitz, a Raytheon Company vice president, was previously vice president
of operations and quality for Raytheon's Electronic Systems business in El
Segundo, Calif.
    "I am taking this action to strengthen our ability to simultaneously
maintain our focus on meeting cost, quality and delivery commitments and
increase attention to our customers," Schuster said. "Bob is uniquely
qualified to help me -- and the RAC team -- meet this challenge."
    Horowitz has an extensive aviation background and is an FAA licensed
airframe and powerplant mechanic. Prior to the merger of Raytheon and the
defense business of Hughes in 1997, he was a corporate vice president of
Hughes Aircraft Corporation where he served as vice president of operations
and deputy segment executive for the Weapons Systems Segment.
    Before joining Hughes in 1995, Horowitz was vice president of operations
for the Astro-Space Division and Electronics sector of Lockheed Martin.  He
began his career at GE Corporate Research and Development in 1972 and held a
series of general management positions in GE Aerospace before it merged with
Martin-Marietta and Lockheed.
    Horowitz earned a bachelor's degree, with honors, in physical anthropology
from the State University of New York (SUNY), Stony Brook in 1969. He studied
mechanical technology at the Academy of Aeronautics in Queens, N.Y., and
graduated summa cum laude in 1972.
