WEST KINGSTON, RI USA
New Allen-Bradley 1609-P UPS Line in the 3kVA to 10kVA Range Ideal for
               Industrial and Data Communications Applications

    WEST KINGSTON, R.I., Nov. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- American Power
Conversion (Nasdaq: APCC) (APC), a leading global provider of end-to-end
infrastructure availability solutions, and Rockwell Automation (NYSE: ROK), a
leading provider of industrial automation solutions, today announced the
Allen-Bradley 1609-P UPS, a jointly developed line of double conversion online
uninterruptible power supplies for industrial applications. Available in the
3kVA to 10 kVA power range, the new Allen-Bradley 1609-P complements the
existing Allen-Bradley 1609 UPS line that provides battery backup power to
critical devices in the control scheme.

The 1609 UPS line is the result of a joint collaboration between APC and
Rockwell Automation that began in 2003, when APC joined the Rockwell
Automation North American Encompass Partner program. The new Allen-Bradley
1609-P line will be on display at the Automation Fair 2005, November 16-17, in
St. Louis, Mo., in the APC booth (#001) and in the Rockwell Automation
"Essential Components" booth (#1001).
"We are pleased to once again collaborate with an industry leader such as
Rockwell Automation," said Dwight Sperry, APC's vice president of Enterprise
Systems and Business Networks. "This partnership allows both companies to
offer our customers optimized solutions with unique features specifically
designed for industrial applications."
"Uninterrupted power is essential for any automated application.
Sensitive electronic devices operating on the manufacturing floor such as
PLCs, robotics, ethernet switches, and industrial computers, as well as larger
SCADA and complete control systems, all rely on a foundation of regulated AC
power at all times," said Victoria Alia, product manager, IEC Logic
Components, Rockwell Automation.
The Allen Bradley 1609-P series offers extremely tight voltage and
frequency regulation, internal bypass, and input power factor correction to
minimize downtime and ease disruption to equipment. Each model is available
in a number of different input and output voltage combinations and all models
offer assorted output voltages and receptacle or hard wired configurations.
The 5, 8 and 10kVA models come standard with a network management card with
environmental monitoring for remote monitoring.
The network management card with environmental monitoring gives users the
ability to configure the UPS with a unique IP (internet protocol) address to
monitor and control the UPS via a standard Web browser. Users can log onto
the Web and configure settings for low transfer voltage, event and data logs,
fault notification, and a temperature alarm. In addition to Web management,
users can view data through an RSView interface with a SNMP/OPC server
provided by Rockwell Automation. The network management card also comes
standard with a temperature probe to monitor the UPS environment and
customizable I/O contacts and relays.

To increase customer and application flexibility, Rockwell Automation also
offers a complete line of accessories for the 1609-P line such as rack-
mounting kits, external battery packs for extended runtimes, replacement
battery cartridges, and a 2U 208 to 120V step-down transformer.
The Allen-Bradley 1609-P line will be available in North America in
January 2006. For more information, please contact Rockwell Automation at
