Gentex Supplying Auto-Dimming Mirrors for Toyota Mark X

ZEELAND, Mich., Nov. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Gentex Corporation
(Nasdaq: GNTX), the leading supplier of automatic-dimming mirrors to the
worldwide automotive industry, has begun shipping interior automatic-dimming
mirrors for the 2005 Mark X, Toyota's mid-size luxury sedan. The vehicle is
the successor to the Mark II, one of the most popular and best-selling
vehicles in Japan.
Gentex auto-dimming mirrors are active, crash-avoidance safety features.
Rearview mirror glare can hinder the driver's forward vision, which in turn
slows driver reaction time to potential road hazards and increases vehicle
stopping distances. Auto-dimming mirrors automatically darken to reduce glare
from the headlamps of vehicles approaching from the rear. The brighter the
glare, the darker the mirrors become, making nighttime driving safer.
Interior and exterior auto-dimming mirrors are available on a wide variety of
vehicles around the world.
An interior automatic-dimming mirror is a standard feature on the Mark X
300G, 300G Premium, 300G S-package and 250G L-package trim levels.
"This program is landmark business for Gentex," stated Garth Deur, Gentex
executive vice president. "The Mark X represents Toyota's most popular
passenger car lineup in Japan. It's definitely a benchmark vehicle for the
domestic Japan market, and we believe that the debut of auto-dimming mirror
technology on the Mark X will open up many new opportunities for Gentex."
Founded in 1974, Gentex Corporation (The Nasdaq Stock Market: GNTX) is an
international company that provides high-quality products to the worldwide
automotive industry and North American fire protection market. Based in
Zeeland, Michigan, the Company develops, manufactures and markets interior and
exterior automatic-dimming automotive rearview mirrors that utilize
proprietary electrochromic technology to dim in proportion to the amount of
headlight glare from trailing vehicle headlamps. Many of the mirrors are
sold with advanced electronic features, and more than 95 percent of the
Company's revenues are derived from the sales of auto-dimming mirrors to
nearly every major automaker in the world.
