Qualifying Purchases Will Count Toward Elite Status in United's Mileage
Plus Program
CHICAGO and WILMINGTON, Del., Nov. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- United
Airlines(R) and Chase (NYSE: JPM) invite customers to use their Mileage
Plus(R) Visa(R) cards for holiday shopping between Nov. 20, 2005, and Dec. 28,
2005, to earn miles toward their 2006 elite membership status in the Mileage
Plus program.
When customers earn 25,000 Elite Qualifying Miles (EQM) and 30 Elite
Qualifying Segments (EQS) on United in a calendar year, they attain Premier(R)
status in the United Mileage Plus program. If they earn 50,000 EQM and 60
EQS, they attain Premier Executive(R) status; and if they earn 100,000 EQM and
100 EQS, they attain 1K(R) status in the Mileage Plus program.
"This offer is a great opportunity for our customers to earn elite status
faster by using their Mileage Plus Visa cards during the most popular shopping
time of the year," said Kenneth Feldman, United's vice president of Loyalty
and E-Commerce. "By obtaining elite status, members receive added benefits
such as Economy Plus(R) seating -- which offers up to five more inches of
legroom -- and is another example of how United recognizes and rewards our
most loyal customers."
"This holiday season consumers can give themselves a gift when using their
Mileage Plus Visa cards to make all of their purchases," said Joe Venuti,
senior vice president, Chase Card Services. "We're excited to offer loyal
cardmembers the opportunity to earn elite status more quickly."
To qualify for the Mileage Plus Visa holiday shopping offer, members must
register online at http://united.com/mpvisaeqm and pay a one-time only $50
processing fee. Once registered, members who spend $10,000 with their card
between Nov. 20, 2005, and Dec. 28, 2005, will earn 5,000 EQM and 5 EQS.
Members who spend $5,000 during the valid promotion period will earn 2,500
EQM/2.5 EQS. For more information and full terms and conditions, visit
http://united.com/mpvisaeqm .
The Elite Qualifying Miles and the Elite Qualifying Segments that
customers earn on Mileage Plus Visa purchases through Dec. 28, 2005, can also
give them the balance needed to enjoy the reward of their choice, which
includes multiple chances to win a million miles or other great rewards. To
qualify for a reward of their choice, members who currently hold Premier(R)
status must reach 40,000 EQM or 40 EQS by Dec. 31, 2005. The promotional
threshold for members currently holding Premier Executive(R) status is 75,000
EQM/75 EQS, and members currently holding 1K(R) status need 125,000 EQM/125
EQS to qualify for this offer. For details and to register, visit
