(Nasdaq: CGCP), a leader in transmyocardial revascularization (TMR)
technology, today announced the appointment of Robert C. Strauss to its Board
of Directors.
In 1997, Mr. Strauss served as President and Chief Operating Officer of
IVAX, a publicly traded pharmaceutical and diagnostics company based in Miami,
Florida. From 1987 to 1997, he served as President and Chief Executive
Officer of Cordis Corporation and as its Chairman since 1995. At Cordis, the
world's largest developer and manufacturer of innovative devices and products
for interventional vascular medicine and electrophysiology, Mr. Strauss led
the company through a major shift in its primary business focus in the late
1980s and a successful acquisition by Johnson & Johnson in 1996 with a
stock-for-stock transaction valued at $1.8 billion. Mr. Strauss joined Cordis
in 1983 as Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer. From
1979 to 1983, Mr. Strauss was the Senior Vice President of Food Fair, Inc., a
national food distribution chain, where he participated on the turnaround team
that led to the company's successful emergence from Chapter 11.

Mr. Strauss received his B.S. in Engineering and Physics from the
University of Illinois and a Master's degree in Physics from the University of
Idaho. Mr. Strauss has extensive involvement in industry and civic activities
including being elected to the Health Industry Manufacturers Association
(HIMA) Board of Directors in 1993, and serving as Co-Chairman of the Dade
County Florida United Way in 1994. Mr. Strauss is also a member of the Board
of Trustees at the University of Miami, and Chairman of the Board of Miami
Children's Hospital.
