* 1/2 ATR short, sealed aluminum chassis
* 5 slots for conduction-cooled, 6U VME circuit boards
* VMEbus backplane supporting VME64 extensions
* Strong thermal performance
* ARINC-404A form factor
BOSTON, Nov. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
SBS Technologies(R) (Nasdaq: SBSE), a leading provider of embedded computing
technology, today introduced the RCOM05-ATR-6V standard 1/2 ATR short
ARINC-404 chassis designed to meet the strict space limitations of the
ARINC-404A envelope used in most avionics applications. A preview of the
chassis will be available at the Fall 2002 Embedded Systems Conference in
Boston, November 19-21 (Booth #818).
The lightweight aluminum chassis is cooled by convection or via a base
cold plate, which results in excellent thermal performance and allows a
maximum temperature range of -40 degrees C to +71 degrees C. "The 1/2 ATR
chassis exemplifies our commitment to delivering integrated solutions for
avionics applications in which COTS is a requirement and space is limited,"
said Clarence Peckham, President of SBS Technologies' Commercial and
Government Group. Available as part of an integrated solution, the chassis
will support SBS's large breadth of products, which can be used for many
system applications.
The chassis houses a five-slot 6U VME64X backplane accommodating up to
five top-loaded conduction cooled 6U VME boards, including power supply, and a
300W 28VDC plug in power supply that is MIL-STD-740D and MIL-STD-461C
compliant. The chassis' removable surfaces are provided with environmental/EMI
gaskets, which protect internal electronic assemblies from airborne
contaminants. The chassis is sealed creating a dry air environment with all
boards, including the power supply secured with wedge locks to enhance
resistance against shock and vibration.
Price and Availability
RCOM04-ATR-6V chassis will be available December 2002. Pricing starts at
$18,500 for the chassis when purchased as part of an integrated system.
