     MIAMI, Nov. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Burger King Corporation today announced
the appointment of Peter C. Smith as Chief Human Resources Officer. He will
report directly to Brad Blum, chief executive officer and will serve as a
member of the Executive Leadership Team.  His appointment is effective
December 1, 2003.

    Reporting directly to Pete will be Clyde Rucker, senior vice president,
diversity; Cynthia Fraser-Gonzales, vice president, corporate and franchise
human resources; Chris Steilberg, senior director, talent development; Laura
Parsons, senior director, human resources for company operations and Susan
Kunreuther, director of benefits.
    Smith brings 24 years of senior human resources responsibilities to his
position at Burger King Corporation, having directed various human resources
functions in Eastern Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and
the United States with Frito-Lay, Citibank and, most recently, AutoNation,
based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
    While at AutoNation, Smith served as senior vice president, human
resources where he built the human resources organization from its inception,
which included establishing the entire infrastructure for the HR function.
During his tenure, overall company turnover was reduced by 30%.  Prior to
AutoNation, Smith was senior vice president, international human resources for
Citibank where he had full generalist accountability for 17 nations with
13,000 employees in the Consumer Banking Group. During this Citibank tenure he
also helped facilitate the integration of two major acquisitions.
    Smith earned a bachelor's of science degree in Business from Winona State
University in Winona, Minnesota.  He resides in Miami, Florida.
