Costa Rica Tourist Board Selects Porter Novelli Florida to Help Promote Travel From United States

Leading Global Public Relations Agency Leveraging Expertise to Reinvigorate
Travel to Top Central American Destination

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Nov. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- The Costa Rica Tourist
Board (ICT) announced today that it has named the Florida office of Porter
Novelli International, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Omnicom Group
(Nasdaq: OMC), as the agency of record for its multi-disciplined campaign to
encourage U.S. travelers to visit Costa Rica.
"Our partnership with the Costa Rica Tourist Board represents a great
opportunity for us to tap the expertise of our network to communicate the many
benefits of Costa Rica as a top travel destination," said Alejandro Hernandez,
general manager of Porter Novelli Florida. "One of the points we intend to
communicate to travelers is the proximity of Costa Rica -- it takes less time
to fly to San Jose, Costa Rica from Atlanta or Miami than it does to fly to
San Jose, California. We also plan to help the ICT enhance its communications
with key travel industry partners in the U.S."
The ICT has a long-standing relationship with Centroamerica Porter
Novelli's office in Costa Rica and will leverage this fact to expand its
national and regional communications efforts to the U.S. through the Florida
office of Porter Novelli. The team, located in Fort Lauderdale, will be
developing and implementing a multi-faceted communications program to reflect
the unmatched blend of rich biodiversity, friendly culture and tranquil
setting of Costa Rica that drew more than one million visitors from the U.S.
last year. The Florida office is charged with U.S. media relations, focusing
on key travel influencers as well as communications with travel trade and
consumer magazines, programs and Web sites. In addition, Porter Novelli will
provide strategic counsel on areas ranging from interactive campaigns to
industry relations efforts.
