Applied Imaging Announces Appointment of President and Chief Operating Officer

    SANTA CLARA, Calif., Nov. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Applied Imaging
Corp. (Nasdaq: AICX) today announced the appointment of Robin C. Stracey to
the newly-created position of President and Chief Operating Officer. In this
role, Mr. Stracey will have responsibility for the Company's worldwide
commercial and product development activities.

diagnostic and life sciences experience, and his extensive international
operating background, Robin will be in a position to make an immediate

    Prior to joining Applied Imaging, Mr. Stracey was the Vice President and
General Manager of the Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry business unit of
Thermo Electron Corporation, where he was responsible for all aspects of a
$140 million business unit providing sophisticated capital equipment and
consumables to drug discovery, clinical and life sciences customers worldwide.
Mr. Stracey was also previously a Corporate Vice President of Dade Behring and
the General Manager of Syva Inc., a leading supplier of specialized diagnostic
reagents.
    Mr. Stracey has a bachelors of science degree with honors in life sciences
from the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom. He is a graduate of
the Executive Program at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.

    Mr. Stracey was granted an option to purchase up to 200,000 shares of the
Company's common stock, pursuant to the revised Nasdaq listing requirement
Rule 4350(i)(1)(A)(iv). The option will vest over a four-year period.
