HOUSTON, Nov. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- American General Corporation (NYSE: AGC)
today announced that Susan A. Jacobs has recently been named deputy general
counsel and corporate secretary. In addition to serving as corporate
secretary, she will be responsible for legal representation on mergers and
acquisitions, corporate, finance, and investment division activities. Jacobs
will report to Mark S. Berg, senior vice president and general counsel.
Jacobs' business career includes 21 years of legal and corporate
experience. Prior to joining American General's corporate law department in
1986 as associate general counsel, she was corporate counsel for Tenneco Inc.
for five years, specializing in corporate finance. She began her legal career
as an associate attorney with the Houston law firm of Butler & Binion.
A native of Waco, Texas, Jacobs received a B.A. degree from the University
of Texas in 1969, and her J.D. degree from the University of Houston in 1976.
