Raytheon Unit Earns CMMI Level 3 Rating

    EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Nov. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company's Space and
Airborne Systems (SAS) has attained a Capability Maturity Model Integration
(CMMI) Level 3 rating, indicating a superior level of process maturity among
core engineering and integrated product development disciplines that many
customers consider a competitive advantage.
    CMMI is a process capability maturity model based on best practices in the
defense industry.  The SAS CMMI appraisal was led by the Software Productivity
Consortium, a nonprofit organization of industry, government and academia.
    With approximately 12,000 total employees and 6,695 employees in the Level
3 appraisal scope, Raytheon SAS is the second-largest of 93 organizations to
have been appraised according to the CMMI model.
