Penrose to lead all Cingular operations from San Antonio headquarters
SAN ANTONIO, Nov. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Cingular Wireless has named Chris
Penrose vice president and general manager of the South Texas market, which
includes Austin, San Antonio, Houston, Corpus Christi and the Rio Grande
Valley.
Penrose comes to San Antonio from Richmond, VA, where he was vice
president and general manager of Cingular's Virginia and West Virginia
operations. He replaces Andy Shibley, who was named to lead the company's
Los Angeles, CA market, Cingular's largest metropolitan market.
In his new role, Penrose will oversee overall business and financial
matters for the designated markets in South Texas.
"Chris has demonstrated exceptional leadership in the wireless
industry, and I can think of no better person to manage this territory and
build on its success for the future," said LeAnn Priebe, Central Region
President of Cingular Wireless. "I have worked closely with Chris in the
past, and I know he is ideally suited to direct our operations in South
Texas."
"I am excited to have this opportunity to return to San Antonio,"
Penrose said. "There is so much going on in this business that I look
forward to being a part of all the products and services we will bring to
our South Texas customers. Our goal-and my objective-is to ensure our
customers have a great wireless experience."
Prior to his position in Richmond, Penrose was executive director of
marketing for the Central Region of Cingular, and was located in Dallas.
Most of his 16 years in telecommunications were in marketing and sales
management. This will be his third assignment in San Antonio, also having
worked in Dallas and Houston.
Penrose is a native of St. Louis, MO. He and his wife Anne have two
children, an 11-year-old daughter and eight-year-old son. He received his
marketing degree and MBA from Indiana University.
