BALTIMORE, Nov. 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The T. Rowe Price Associates
Foundation has elected two additional trustees, Vernon Reid and Meredith
Callanan, to its board.
Mr. Reid, a Vice President of T. Rowe Price Group Inc., rejoined the firm
in 1999 as a senior bond trader, but has been with the company for a total of
15 years. A Baltimore native, Mr. Reid also serves on the board of the
Baltimore Educational Scholarship Trust and the Enoch Pratt Free Library.
Ms. Callanan is a Vice President of T. Rowe Price Group and also Director
of the Marketing & Investment Services Group. She has been with the company
since 1990. Ms. Callanan also serves on the corporate advisory board of the
Johns Hopkins Children's Center and is a past president of the American
Marketing Association's Baltimore Chapter.
"Both Vernon and Meredith bring a lot of knowledge about nonprofits and
the needs of the community," said Ann Allston Boyce, president of the T. Rowe
Price Foundation. "Both of them have long tenures with T. Rowe Price and
understand the goals and values of the corporation, which is extremely
important to the foundation. We look forward to their participation."
Established in 1981, the T. Rowe Price Associates Foundation, Inc. is a
vehicle through which the firm accomplishes the goal of improving quality of
life at large by making charitable contributions. As of September 30, the
foundation had about $21.6 million in assets and in 2003 it made grants
totaling $3.4 million.
The Foundation is a strong supporter of nonprofit organizations benefiting
education, arts and culture, civic and community, and human services
interests. Although its main geographic focus is the Baltimore/Maryland
region, it is also responsive to philanthropic requests from other T. Rowe
Price offices throughout the country.
In addition to providing grants, the Foundation also encourages employees
of T. Rowe Price to volunteer for various community projects. The Foundation
has a generous matching gift program where it matches dollar-for-dollar
contributions employees give to qualifying charities of their choice. The
Foundation will also award a cash gift to a qualifying charity where an
employee volunteers at least 25 hours of service a year.
