IRVING, Texas, Nov. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Novation, the supply company of VHA
Inc. and the University HealthSystem Consortium, has signed an agreement with
Action Products for reusable pads and positioners. The agreement took effect
on Nov. 15, 2003 and runs through Nov. 14, 2006. The agreement was awarded
through Novation's innovative technology evaluation process, as requested by
the Novation Orthopedic Council, along with the Perioperative and Nursing
councils. These councils include clinicians and purchasing executives from
member hospitals.
The agreement includes the following products:
-- Operating pads -- Positioning chest rolls
-- Head pads -- Positioners
-- Arm/shoulder/elbow pads -- Pediatric positioners
-- Ankle/foot/heel pads -- Specialty frame pads
-- Stirrup pads -- Ancillary products
The agreement is expected to generate an estimated $1 million in annual
sales for Action Products and save VHA and UHC members approximately seven to
10 percent as a result of the new market-leading contract pricing.
"This agreement is an example of Novation's efforts to help members access
new medical technology at a lower cost and enhance the purchasing value
available to members," according to Eldon Petersen, group senior vice
president at Novation.
The new agreement also extends to health care organizations that purchase
supplies through HealthCare Purchasing Partners International(TM), a company
that markets Novation purchasing agreements to organizations that are outside
of VHA and UHC.
