Project is Estimated at $2 Million in Lamp Sales
CHICAGO, Nov. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Grainger, the leading business-to-
business provider of maintenance, repair, and operating (MRO) supplies, today
announced that it has been awarded Wyndham International, Inc.'s (NYSE: WYN)
national energy-saving lamp conversion project. The project is designed to
save energy and related costs for each of the 115 participating hotel
properties.
The plan is to convert almost 27,000 guestrooms and common areas from
incandescent light bulbs to energy-saving, long-lasting compact fluorescent
and halogen lamps. According to industry standards a typical 100-watt, 120V,
incandescent lamp provides approximately 750 hours of life, whereas the
compact fluorescent lamps specified for this project have an average life of
10,000 hours. Properties participating in the relamping conversion are
located in North America and include Wyndham proprietary branded products --
Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Wyndham Luxury Resorts and Summerfield Suites by
Wyndham -- which range in size from 40 to over 1000 guestrooms.
"We needed a lighting supplier who had the breadth of products and energy-
saving expertise in addition to the on-site and logistical resources to meet
our needs quickly," said Jay Litt, senior vice president, purchasing, Wyndham
International, Inc.
The initial phase of the project began on November 13 with on-site surveys
conducted by Grainger representatives working in tandem with GE Lighting field
personnel. GE, a strategic Grainger supplier, is the sole lamp provider for
this project. To date, all hotel locations have been reviewed and a
comprehensive lamp order of approximately $2 million in lamp sales is being
compiled. Delivery and installation of the lamps is expected to begin in mid-
December with hotel staff replacing all lamps specified in the project.
"Wyndham International, like many businesses, continues to look for ways
to contain costs and conserve energy and we are proud to play a key role in
their effort," said Wes Clark, group president, Grainger. "With supplier
partners like GE, we can continue to offer and deliver on our product and
service promise to bring the right MRO solutions to our customers."
