Siemens Unveils New Digital Mammography System for Optimized Screening

The MAMMOMAT(R) Novation S digital mammography system from Siemens Medical Solutions is designed to optimize clinical workflow for screenings. The system provides a cost-effective solution for facilities that are making the transition to digital breast imaging but do not have the need for advanced diagnostic functionality. The MAMMOMAT Novation S utilizes the latest full-field amorphous Selenium (aSe) detectors, which convert X-ray energy into an electric charge to help detect small and low-contrast objects, yielding excellent image quality. digital mammography system designed to optimize clinical workflow for

With the introduction of the MAMMOMAT Novation S, Siemens provides a
cost- effective solution for facilities that are making the transition to
digital breast imaging but do not have the need for advanced diagnostic
functionality. The system is suited to large facilities that operate
screening-only satellite centers, as well as those that perform both
screening and diagnostic examinations, but for whom investing in only
diagnostic systems is cost- prohibitive because of the volume of screening
exams performed.

"The MAMMOMAT Novation S provides a digital mammography solution that
is designed to address the needs of patients, clinicians and administrators
alike," said Anders Steiner, vice president, Special Systems Division,
Siemens Medical Solutions. "Now healthcare facilities have the option of a
system that fits their clinical and business needs, providing intuitive,
streamlined workflow and enabling exceptional throughput to help maximize
their investments."

The MAMMOMAT Novation S utilizes the latest full-field amorphous
Selenium (aSe) detectors, which convert X-ray energy into an electric
charge to help detect small and low-contrast objects, yielding excellent
image quality. To achieve optimum dose, the MAMMOMAT Novation S utilizes
the same technology as the MAMMOMAT NovationDR - OpComp and OpDose.

The Acquisition Workstation (AWS) comes standard with the MAMMOMAT
Novation S Siemens, which may also be used with the syngo(R) MammoReport
breast care workplace. Combined with these dedicated workstations and a
common user interface that intuitively drives workflow, the MAMMOMAT
Novation S provides a comprehensive solution for optimized mammography
screening processes. Through DICOM compatibility, patient data are readily
stored in existing digital clinical archives of virtually any scale and may
be printed as needed.
