Raytheon Wins Another Major Radar Contract in China

Contract for Jing Hu Sui Air Traffic Control MSSR Radar Programme
                     Awarded to Raytheon Systems Limited

HARLOW, United Kingdom, Nov. 28 /PRNewswire/ --Raytheon Systems Limited
(RSL) has just concluded another contract for the provision of air traffic
control surveillance radar equipment for the People's Republic of China. This
latest order calls for four standalone Monopulse Secondary Surveillance Radar
(MSSR) systems for the Jing Hu Sui air corridor between Beijing, Shanghai and
Guangzhou.
The contract was signed in Beijing between RSL and the Air Traffic
Management Bureau (ATMB) of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC)
at a ceremony in Beijing on September 18th.
The radar sites to be equipped with the new MSSRs are at Shangrao,
Ganzhou, Xuzhou and Jinan. Factory acceptance for the first site is scheduled
for April 2002 and the contract is due for completion by the end of 2002.
Paul McCarthy, RSL's ATC Marketing Manager for China, said: "The People's
Republic of China is an immensely important market to Raytheon. This latest
contract award is a further endorsement of RSL's ability to offer speed of
installation while meeting the tight quality and reliability levels demanded
by China's air traffic control programme." He added, "This latest contract
will increase the number of RSL MSSR installations in China to 22 systems, and
we are hopeful of further business in the ATMB's five-year plan for MSSR
acquisition."
Early last year RSL won a contract to supply four MSSR radars for the
Beijing to Guangzhou air corridor. Those radar systems, at Wuhan, Shaoguan,
Shi Jia Zhuang and Zhoukou, are now fully operational.
