SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Medweb, a leading provider of
distributed teleradiology and PACS solutions used around the world, unveiled
Medweb Dashboard at the RSNA 2005 conference in Chicago. Medweb Dashboard is
a radiology information system that enables radiologists in multiple locations
to effectively manage their complete workflow.
As the first tool of its kind, Medweb Dashboard allows single or
multi-site radiology groups to seamlessly share and balance their workloads
between multiple PACS systems and HIS/RIS systems from a variety of vendors,
enabling radiologists to selectively perform reads. More importantly, the
solution provides a one-of-a-kind "virtual reading room" that automatically
loads, assigns and re-assigns cases to radiologists based on their workload
versus their location, with the option to route exams based on rules such as a
radiologist's state licensure, hospital privileges, subspecialty or real-time
workload balancing.
Medweb Dashboard enables management of images, dictation, transcription
and reporting, plus optional voice recognition and billing, all within a
unified workflow. The system tracks statistics and turnaround times,
automates reassignment of studies within a designated time frame, and
prioritizes stat exams as part of the basic workflow.
The solution provides a single dictation and viewing interface that
automatically routes and reinserts the signed reports back to the originating
PACS, RIS, fax or printer as an HL7 or DICOM electronic message, fax, print or
in email form, according to the preferences of the client facility. Medweb
Dashboard also features a private, encrypted instant messaging system for
faster collaboration between radiologists.
One early adopter, Radiology of Huntsville, has been using Medweb
Dashboard since early October. "Dashboard has enabled our practice to far
more efficiently handle studies," said Darrin Johnson, M.D. of Radiology of
Huntsville. "Before Dashboard, we had to move our radiologists around to read
studies, now we send the studies to them." Johnson also says the solution
avoids duplication of bandwidth, re-distributes studies to whomever is
available to read them based on workload, and enables the radiologists to have
greater flexibility in their work location. Prior to Dashboard, the practice
used a centralized server PACS server, however, they had outgrown the
hub-and-spokes model.
Medweb Dashboard is designed for use with all Medweb products, including
its three customizable PACS solutions: Personal PACS Webserver, Office/OR
PACS and Enterprise PACS.
Medweb, a provider of distributed teleradiology, PACS and telemedicine
solutions since 1992, holds several major patents for web-based medical image
viewing. Its clinical information solutions are built upon public standards
such as DICOM, HL7 and Internet technologies. Medweb's platform of reliable,
secure and affordable products is designed to dramatically improve the
delivery of high-quality healthcare, reduce provider costs and increase
profitability for medical care organizations. Due to their proven reliability
and success, Medweb's solutions are used by the US Army, Navy and Air Force,
