Attendees and Exhibitors Stay Connected at the World's Largest Medical Show
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Nov. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Meru Networks, the global
leader in converged wireless LAN, today announced that it has teamed up with
iNOC, a leading provider of Managed Network and Security services, to provide
wireless Internet services at the Radiological Society of North America
(RSNA)'s Meeting at McCormick Place in Chicago from November 28 through
December 3. The annual conference of the RSNA is the world's largest
international medical meeting with about 700 vendors, numerous scientific
exhibits, and over 60,000 attendees, including radiologists, allied health
scientists, hospital executives, and healthcare consultants.
By creating a mobile extension of RSNAnet (the high-speed communications
network that supports the conference), Meru's Wireless LAN System will enable
attendees to easily exchange research and medical images, check e-mail, and
perform other tasks while on the show floor. Meru's access points will be
deployed throughout the show floor, spanning multiple exhibit halls across two
million square feet.
"Meru's WLAN System was a good choice for supporting the challenging
Quality of Service (QoS) networking requirements of the RSNA Conference," said
Prasad Ravi, CEO of iNOC, the company charged with designing, building, and
managing RSNAnet. "Meru's Air Traffic Control technology manages RF contention
with sophisticated traffic controls to deliver predictable and fair
performance to a large number of users."
"As conferences like RSNA as well as major corporations begin to deploy
wireless LANs that must support media-rich applications and thousands of
users, we believe that Meru's unique Air Traffic Control technology will be
the only solution that can handle the load," said Ujjal Kohli, chairman, CEO,
and co-founder of Meru Networks. "We are proud to be able to showcase the Meru
Wireless LAN System at the medical industry's largest conference."
Meru will be participating on the panel, "Understanding and Capitalizing
on Voice over WLAN in Healthcare Facilities," on Wednesday, December 1 at the
RSNA show's Mobile Computing Pavilion.
