Compaq Chooses TIBCO to Strengthen 'SemiSuite,' Its Total Semiconductor Fab
Automation Solution Using TIB/ActiveEnterprise Scalable Infrastructure

PALO ALTO, Calif., Nov. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- TIBCO Software (Nasdaq: TIBX),
a leading provider of real-time infrastructure software for e-business, today
announced an agreement with Compaq Computer Corporation (Nasdaq: CPQ),
whereby Compaq will use TIBCO's TIB/ActiveEnterprise(R) infrastructure
software to integrate its new SemiSuite(TM) total solution for semiconductor
fabrication plant automation, an integral part of the Compaq NonStop eBusiness
Solutions portfolio.

Compaq's SemiSuite pre-integrated, pre-engineered fab automation solution
leverages technology and expertise to ensure implementation of MES and total
CIM automation for front-end and back-end fabs, LCD fabs, legacy system
migrations, workflow management and equipment integration. Under the new
agreement, Compaq will use TIBCO's TIB/ActiveEnterprise infrastructure to
provide scalable integration across the business level information of the
components of the SemiSuite product. The TIB/ActiveEnterprise integration
platform will enable fab workers to access a wide array of critical
information sources, including MRP systems, supply chain status reports and
other corporate information assets such as ERP. Additionally, under the
agreement Compaq may leverage the TIB/Active Enterprise infrastructure suite
in its solutions for such other vertical markets as automotive,
telecommunications and energy.
