Busiest Travel Season of the Year Ushers in New Resource for Journalists

NEW YORK, Nov. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Journalists covering the busy holiday
travel season have a new comprehensive online source for breaking news on the
travel and leisure industry from the journalist-only PRN Press Room,
http://www.prnmedia.com, PR Newswire announced today.
"The Travel Beat gives reporters and editors who cover this industry a
one-stop source of information to enhance their newsgathering processes," said
Ken Dowell, vice president of media and content development. "They can use
the service to get story ideas, access our three-year archive to find
background information or identify contacts on topics of their choice."
The Travel Beat provides journalists with a real-time feed of breaking
travel news releases, about 50 stories a day covering travel, hotel, leisure,
airlines, aviation, casino and gambling. The media may also register to
receive headlines or stories via e-mail through PR Newswire's custom push
delivery system. The fully searchable web site also features photos, experts
from ProfNet and five travel and leisure feature news packages each year.
According to the Travel Industry Association of America, travel and
tourism was the nation's third-largest retail industry after automotive
dealers and food stores in 1998. As one of the largest employers in the
United States, the travel industry directly generated 7.6 million jobs, with
more than $147 billion in payroll income for Americans last year.
More than 15,500 journalists use the PRN Press Room, which is password
protected and available to journalists at no cost. The web site was created
in late 1997 to provide a fast, easy way for the media to receive and search
news releases. It offers other specific sections for journalists covering the
automotive, technology, energy, retail, sports, entertainment, media and
finance industries. Additional features include new media events, media
advisories not available on other web sites, custom daybooks, and a job bank.
PR Newswire is the world leader in the electronic delivery of information
directly from companies, institutions and agencies through its cutting-edge

founding the industry, it has 35 bureaus worldwide, an exclusive partnership
