PG Energy PowerPlus Delivers Its First Electricity; Choice Still Available to Electric Pilot Participants

    WILKES-BARRE, Pa., Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- PG Energy PowerPlus reached a
new milestone as it began delivering electricity today to participants in the
Pennsylvania Electric Pilot Program who chose PG Energy PowerPlus as their
electricity supplier.
In response to the opportunities' presented by Pennsylvania's Electric
Generation Customer Choice and Competition law, PG Energy PowerPlus formed a
marketing alliance with CNG Energy Services to market electricity to all
classes of customers in 26 counties in the eastern half of Pennsylvania.
Based in Pittsburgh, CNG Energy Services is one of the largest power marketers
in the country. PG Energy PowerPlus is licensed by the Pennsylvania Public
Utility Commission (PPUC) to furnish and supply electricity within the
Commonwealth.
Under the pilot program, electric utility companies throughout the
Commonwealth selected 5% of their customers to participate in the pilot,
giving them the right to choose which company will provide their electricity.
Regardless of which supplier is chosen, the electricity is delivered through
the distribution system of the local electric utility.
Joseph F. Perugino, President and CEO of PG Energy PowerPlus, said, "We're
delighted with the response we've received to our marketing efforts. The
pilot is a learning experience for everyone involved and participants are very
conscientious about comparison shopping. We're confident that our new
electric customers will be completely satisfied with the price and the service
they will receive from PG Energy PowerPlus."
Perugino also reminded pilot participants who have not yet selected a
supplier that they have until November 14 to decide. PG Energy PowerPlus is
guaranteeing customers a savings of up to 10% on their entire electric bill.

approved as a supplier of natural gas to customers of the Honesdale Gas
Company, a subsidiary of PG Energy. Honesdale Gas Company has received
permission from the PPUC to offer a choice of natural gas suppliers to all its
customers, effective November 1, 1997.
