FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., May 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Pediatrix Medical Group,
Inc. (NYSE: PDX) today announced the cash acquisition of Carolina Neonatology
Associates, P.A. which operates a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) in
Columbia, S.C. In 1996, the unit generated approximately 5,000 patient days.
This marks Pediatrix' second acquisition in South Carolina.
Since January 1, 1997, Pediatrix has added a total of 14 NICUs, including
the South Carolina acquisition, through a combination of internal marketing
efforts and acquisitions. During 1996, these units generated over 75,000
patient days. For all of 1996, Pediatrix recorded approximately 186,000
patient days.
Pediatrix Medical Group, Inc. is the nation's largest provider of
