FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., April 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Pediatrix Medical Group,
Inc. (NYSE: PDX) has completed the acquisition of Foothill Medical Group,
Inc., a Pasadena, California-based neonatology physician group practice that
operates two neonatal intensive care units (NICUs).
The Foothill group practice generated approximately 12,000 patient days
during 1996. It is Pediatrix' third group practice acquisition in the
Southern California market in less than two years. Pediatrix now operates a
total of 16 NICUs in the Southern California area.
Since January 1, 1997, Pediatrix has added a total of 13 NICUs, including
the Pasadena acquisition, through a combination of internal marketing efforts
and acquisitions. During 1996 these NICUs generated more than 70,000 patient
days. For all of 1996, Pediatrix recorded approximately 186,000 patient days.
Pediatrix Medical Group, Inc., is the nation's largest provider of
