FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Pediatrix Medical Group,
Inc. (NYSE: PDX) today announced the acquisition of Neonatal Associates of
Northwest Florida, P.A., which operates two neonatal intensive care units
(NICUs) in Pensacola, FL. In 1996, the unit generated approximately 12,000
patient days.
Since January 1, 1997, Pediatrix has added a total of 29 NICUs, including
the Pensacola acquisition, through a combination of internal marketing efforts
and acquisitions. During 1996, these additional units generated approximately
121,000 patient days. For all of 1996, Pediatrix recorded approximately
186,000 patient days. The NICUs to which Pediatrix currently provides services
generated approximately 360,000 patient days during 1996.
