FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Oct. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Pediatrix Medical Group,
Inc. (NYSE: PDX) has completed the acquisition of Southern Colorado
Neonatology Associates, P.C., which provides services to two neonatal
intensive care units (NICUs) in Colorado Springs. Those units generated
approximately 6,000 patient days in 1996.
The acquisition of Southern Colorado Neonatology expands Pediatrix' market
presence within the state of Colorado. Pediatrix operates 11 NICUs, four
pediatric intensive care units (PICUs) and one pediatrics department in the
Denver metropolitan area.
During 1997, Pediatrix has added a total of 31 NICUs, including the
Colorado Springs acquisition, through a combination of internal marketing
efforts and acquisitions. During 1996, these additional units generated
approximately 127,000 patient days. For all of 1996, Pediatrix recorded
approximately 186,000 patient days. The NICUs to which Pediatrix currently
provides services generated approximately 360,000 patient days during 1996.
