Playboy.com and Lycos Form Strategic Alliance

             Shared Content and Commerce to Launch in Early 2001

    NEW YORK, Dec. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Playboy.com, Inc., the wholly owned
subsidiary of Playboy Enterprises, Inc. (NYSE: PLA) and the preeminent online
men's lifestyle and entertainment destination, today announced the formation
of a strategic alliance with Lycos.
    Under the agreement, Playboy.com and Lycos will create a Playboy Channel
within the Lycos Network that will include selected Playboy.com content
highlights and PlayboyStore.com merchandise.  The parties will also develop My
Playboy, a branded version of the My Lycos personalized start page.  In
addition, Playboy.com will feature daily news stories from Wired News, part of
the Lycos Network.
    The scope of the relationship will impact all of Playboy.com's revenue
streams, which include advertising, subscriptions and e-commerce.
