SAN DIEGO, Dec. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- California Bank & Trust recently
announced it has given a $25,000 grant to One Economy Corporation, a national
non-profit organization created to be a catalyst for innovation and change by
helping bring access to technology into the homes of low-income people around
the country, as well as making this technology available for small businesses.
One Economy Corporation is headquartered in Washington, D.C.
"It is our mission to develop advantageous relationships that benefit
residents of our communities," stated Mike Mantle, Executive Vice President
and Executive Director of California Bank & Trust's Community Development
Division. "This grant will help bring much needed resources to emerging small
businesses in the areas we serve, and we are proud to assist an important
organization like One Economy," he continued.
California Bank & Trust awards select charitable gifts annually to
organizations that foster the growth and enrichment of the community through
the bank's Community Development Grant Program. Community Development is a
top priority for California Bank & Trust when awarding grants. Donations are
given primarily to non-profit organizations that focus on providing vital
community services to revitalize or stabilize low and moderate-income
communities, including those that promote affordable housing, small
business/micro-enterprise development, and community economic development.
One Economy Corporation has built an online portal for low- and
moderate-income individuals called the Beehive. The Beehive helps more than
450,000 low-income people each month to get the information they need to
improve their lives in such critical areas as money, jobs, school, family and
health. Recently, One Economy launched a new section of the Beehive, The
Entrepreneur Center; since its launch, more than 125,000 people have gone to
the Entrepreneur Center to get advice on starting a business, increasing
sales, finding money, and managing their organization. The Entrepreneur
Center also helps people find technical and financial resources in their own
communities. More than 5,000 people have even begun building their own
business plans using the free business tools provided by One Economy.
"California Bank & Trust's grant will insure that California small
businesses will be able to get help growing and managing their business 24/7
at the virtual Entrepreneur Center at One Economy's Beehive
(http://www.theBeehive.org)" stated Ben Hecht, President of One Economy Corporation.
"California Bank & Trust's support is just the latest example of its
extraordinary commitment to innovation, small business development and the
communities that it serves. We are proud to be partners with California Bank
& Trust," he continued.
