SIOUX CITY, Iowa, Dec. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
Terra Industries Inc. (NYSE: TRA) announces the election of Ben L. Keisler
to its Board of Directors. He fills the vacancy created when Thomas H.
Claiborne left Terra's board after resigning his executive position at Anglo
American plc ("Anglo"), an international natural resources company and Terra's
major shareholder.
In 1985, Keisler joined Terra as a staff attorney and was promoted in 1991
to Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, a position he held
until 1993.
He was General Counsel of Minorco, now a subsidiary of Anglo, from 1997 to
1999, and General Counsel of Minorco (U.S.A.) Inc., Minorco's U.S. subsidiary,
from 1993 until 1997. Since May 1999, Keisler has been Executive Vice
President and General Counsel of Anglo.
Keisler received his J.D., cum laude, in 1981 from University of
Pennsylvania Law School, where he served on the Moot Court Board. He received
his B.A. in 1978 from Haverford College, where he was named to Phi Beta Kappa
and received departmental honors in Philosophy.
