PECO Crews Work Throughout The Night to Restore Service to 145,000 Customers
PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa., Dec. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- More than 400 PECO Energy
employees and contractors worked around the clock in a massive effort to
restore service to 145,000 customers who lost power Wednesday following a
windstorm that brought gusts of more than 50 mph.
The storm, which toppled trees and whipped power lines, is one of the
worst PECO has experienced this year.
Currently, about 7,000 customers remain without electricity.
-- Bucks = 670
-- Chester = 1,800
-- Delaware = 2,500
-- Montgomery = 1,400
-- Philadelphia = 480
The storm reeked havoc outside of Philadelphia and it suburbs with nearly
200,000 power outages statewide, and more in New Jersey and Delaware.
As crews continue extensive repairs including clearing trees and debris
and rebuilding aerial power lines, most of the remaining customers will be
restored later this evening, but some customers in isolated areas may be
without power for sometime.
Crews will continue to work around the clock until power is restored to
all customers. Additionally 29 linemen and two supervisors will arrive later
today from PECO's sister company, ComEd in Chicago, to assist in restoration
efforts.
As clean up continues across the region by PECO and other authorities,
PECO reminds everyone to be safe by staying away from downed power lines and
PECO's equipment and driving safely around workers along area roadways.
