New Dynamic Alarm Handling Capabilities and Lower-Cost Hardware Provide
Increased ROI for Users
COLUMBIA, Md., Dec. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- GSE Systems, Inc.
(Amex: GVP), a leading provider of real-time process control and simulation
solutions for the process and energy industries, announced today the shipment
of a new version of its flagship Process Automation System, D/3(R). This new
version introduces smaller footprint process control module (PCM) hardware,
leveraging PCI technology as well as state of the art dynamic alarm handling
saving operators time with its intuitive software interface.
This latest release improves operational efficiency through the
elimination of nuisance alarms that are distracting and time consuming for
operators. D/3 eliminates wasted time on process interruptions by allowing
users to control the importance of each alarm based on the process state and
only focus on the designated high priority alarms at any given time. As with
previous versions, the new D/3 11.0 will control and automate process plant
operations so users can improve manufacturing safety, throughput and
consistency while achieving cost reductions and profit improvements for their
companies.
Along with the availability of Version 11.0, GSE Systems also released
earlier this year D/3 Compact(TM) which it has developed for smaller
automation projects that have fewer field devices to be controlled, but
require the same level of functionality of GSE Systems larger D/3 Process
Automation System. D/3 Compact offers all the process control, including S88
application support and data acquisition capabilities, of a classic
distributed control system at PLC prices. With the introduction of D/3
Compact users can start with less than 200 I/O (field devices) and easily grow
to 100,000 points or more should their applications need to expand.
Dion Freedman, Sr. Vice President for GSE's Process Automation business
said: "Our new features are focused on improving our customer's return on
investment. Plant managers want more performance out of their assets,
including the operations staff. The intelligent alarming features and other
benefits we've added to the D/3 allow the operator to do more in the same
amount of time. This efficiency improvement has a direct bottom line impact."
Twenty years after GSE Systems' first D/3 was introduced, the Company
continues to deliver innovative, powerful and comprehensive plant automation
solutions for process manufacturers right out of the box while leveraging a
user's current process control investments. D/3's open architecture
facilitates the integration of a plethora of existing and new field devices
and supports the management of process information throughout the enterprise.
