Endorex Highlights Second Drug Delivery Joint Venture with Elan During Presentation at The Bancboston Robertson Stephens Medical Conference

Management Also Reports on Headway in Clinical Trials And
                            New Patent Protection

CHICAGO, Dec. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Endorex Corporation (Amex: DOR) told
investors at the BancBoston Robertson Stephens 1998 Medical Conference in New
York Thursday that management is enthusiastic about the outlook for Endorex's
recently-announced second joint venture with Elan Corporation, plc
(NYSE: ELN).
In this second joint venture based on a novel disposable device called
Medipad(TM) combining patch and infusion therapy technology, of which Endorex
has 80 percent ownership. The Company will engage in the research,
development and commercialization of products using Elan's Medipad(TM)
delivery system for two drugs in undisclosed fields. Medipad(TM) is a
lightweight, painless, disposable system that combines the simplicity of the
patch with the extensive delivery capabilities of a traditional infusion pump.
"We believe this joint venture has significant near-term market
opportunities," said Michael Rosen, president and chief executive officer.
"This program ties in directly with Endorex's strategic goal of expanding our
development of drug delivery alternatives in the area of life-threatening
disease management."
Endorex's initial joint venture with Elan, Innovax, formed earlier in
1998, also supports the Company's goal to rapidly develop easier, less painful
methods of vaccine delivery. Innovax is developing innovative oral delivery
systems for what is an estimated $6 billion human and animal vaccines market.
Elan invested over $18 million in Endorex during 1998.
In its presentation, management also outlined progress in its cancer
therapy program in which Endorex currently has two novel cancer drugs in
multiple Phase II human clinical trials. The first drug, ImmTher(R), based on
immunotherapy, is being evaluated in a random Phase II trial for treating
Ewing's sarcoma, one of the most common forms of bone cancer in children and
adults. The second therapy, Perillyl alcohol, is undergoing three separate
Phase II clinical trials sponsored by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) for
efficacy in the treatment of breast, ovarian and prostate cancers. Perillyl
alcohol is also being studied as a preventative agent for cancer in Phase I
trials, also sponsored by the NCI. The Company said that its goal is to
initiate additional Phase II trials for both ImmTher(R) and Perillyl alcohol
in the near future to study their effectiveness in the treatment of other
forms of cancer, such as liver and colorectal cancer.
In addition to clinical trials, patent protection is a strong focus for
the Company. Endorex recently strengthened its global competitive position
after being issued a Japanese patent for ImmTher(R). As one of the world's
largest oncology markets, Japan represents a substantial opportunity for the
Company.
Endorex Corporation is a drug delivery and cancer products company
headquartered in Lake Forest, Ill.
