ATLANTA, Dec. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Host Communications, Inc., a wholly owned
subsidiary of Bull Run Corporation (Nasdaq: BULL), has entered into an
agreement with the NCAA and Quokka Sports, Inc. to extend their collective
partnership for official online NCAA championship coverage of 40 NCAA sports
championships through the 2002 spring season, including football, basketball,
ice hockey, volleyball, soccer and golf, among other collegiate sports.
Through this renewed agreement, Quokka Sports, in conjunction with Host
Communications and NCAA Online, will continue to produce
NCAAChampionships.com, the official championships web site of the NCAA;
FinalFour.net, the official site for the Division I men's and women's NCAA
basketball championships; and official coverage of other notable college
championship events such as the Men's College World Series.
Using Quokka Sports' Totalcast(TM) technology to provide live event
coverage, the sites will offer unique immersive digital entertainment
experiences, including digital photo and video images, in-depth data analysis,
community chats, expert commentary and other notable features.
As a result of the acquisition of Total Sports, Inc. in October 2000 by
Quokka Sports, Bull Run became an investor in Quokka Sports. Bull Run
previously held approximately 10% of the outstanding capital stock of Total
Sports. Bull Run acquired Host Communications in December 1999.
"We are pleased that Quokka Sports has continued the relationship Host
Communications originally built with Total Sports," commented Robert S.
Prather, Jr., Bull Run's President and CEO. "Host Communications has been,
and will continue to be, integrally involved in collegiate sports, and we
anticipate that the Internet will be a key platform upon which we can
demonstrate and capitalize on our affinity and sports marketing expertise."
Bull Run, through Host Communications, provides affinity, multimedia,
promotional and event management services to universities, high schools,
athletics conferences, associations and corporations. Bull Run also has
significant investments in Gray Communications Systems, Inc., an owner and
operator of 13 television stations and four newspapers; Rawlings Sporting
Goods Company, Inc., a leading supplier of team sports equipment in North
America, iHigh.com, Inc., a company developing a high school marketing network
