Siemens Taps Jack Bergen to Lead US Corporate Affairs and Marketing

NEW YORK, Dec. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Siemens Corporation (NYSE: SI) announced
today the appointment of John D. Bergen as senior vice president, corporate
affairs and marketing, for the company's US operations. Mr. Bergen is
currently the president of the Council of Public Relations Firms, the PR
industry's national trade association.
Siemens has embarked on a major campaign to build its corporate brand and
increase its involvement in the United States, its largest market worldwide.
Mr. Bergen will be responsible for developing and executing the company's US
integrated marketing, advertising and public relations strategy as well as for
communications with its 80,000 US-based employees.
Klaus Kleinfeld, chief operating officer and chief executive officer-
designate of Siemens USA, said, "Siemens has a multitude of business
operations in all 50 states, each with a proud legacy of innovation and
superior customer service and social responsibility. Jack Bergen has the
ideal combination of expertise and energy to build on that goodwill, to
encourage collaboration and communication among the managers and employees of
those businesses, and to focus on the power and promise of the Siemens global
brand to move our US business forward."
Dr. Kleinfeld added, "Jack will have a key role in the accomplishment of
Siemens' business objectives in the United States. Through our two-tier

combining the power and success of our US-based core businesses into a single
company focused on building products essential to the health of the US
economy, its businesses and its citizens. We have also set and are committed
to achieving ambitious performance targets for each of our US businesses.
Marshalling the communications support for this undertaking is a tremendous
task -- and I believe that Jack is the right person to lead this effort."
Mr. Bergen previously was the senior vice president for corporate
relations at Westinghouse Electric Corporation and was on the leadership team
responsible for the transformation of Westinghouse into a media company, the
CBS Corporation. At CBS he directed corporate communications with investors,
customers, employees, government and the media. Mr. Bergen also served as
president and CEO of GCI Group, the worldwide public relations agency of Grey
Advertising, and earlier as president of Hill and Knowlton US. He also was a
member of the communications team of RCA, as vice president of corporate

strategic communications.
"Few American communications executives are as qualified as Jack Bergen to
represent a world class European corporation like Siemens in the United
States," said David Drobis, president of the International Communications
Consultancy Organization and chairman of Ketchum. "Jack is widely known
throughout the international public relations community as a thought leader,
innovator and respected counselor to CEOs."
As an Army officer, Mr. Bergen served in Germany, Vietnam and Korea. A
