Marine Corps Awards Raytheon Full-Scale Development and Demonstration Contract for Common Aviation Command and Control System

TEWKSBURY, Mass., Dec. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company's (NYSE: RTN)
Integrated Defense Systems has been awarded a $132 million five-year option
under the existing Common Aviation Command and Control System (CAC2S) contract
from the U.S. Marine Corps for full-scale development and demonstration of the
CAC2S. The system will be developed by the Raytheon-led CAC2S Alliance that
includes Gallium Software, General Dynamics Decision Systems, Kongsberg
Defence and Aerospace and Sensis Corporation. The production contract for the
system is expected to be awarded in 2007.
"CAC2S will provide integrated capability for the Marine Corps," said Dan
Smith, vice president and deputy of Integrated Defense Systems. "Our entire
industry team is dedicated to meeting our commitments to partner with the
Marine Corps to develop the most capable and affordable system. We believe
CAC2S will serve as the foundation for future Marine Air Ground Task Force
operations," Smith continued.
CAC2S is the next-generation air command and control system for the Marine
Corps. It will consolidate five Marine Corps systems now used for command and
mission planning, anti-air warfare, air defense, air support coordination (for
both fixed and rotary wing aircraft), and air traffic control. The system
promotes Navy/Marine Corps integration and joint operability and will
significantly reduce the lift and logistics requirements for the Marine Air
Ground Task Force. CAC2S retains the relevant functionality required for
Marine Air Command and Control in a much-improved configuration that supports
the Marine Corps' 21st Century paradigm of Expeditionary Maneuver Warfare
(EMW).
CAC2S will be developed by Integrated Defense Systems in San Diego, Calif.

Integrated Defense Systems is a premier supplier of naval and maritime and
air and missile defense systems worldwide.
